What?
Within the learning process it is possible that the learner ends up in a situation where the learner can no longer work individually through a blockage. Asking for help can be a solution for removing the blockage. Asking for help can help pupils to achieve their learning goals and can thus be an excellent indicator of self-regulation.
How?
As an extra challenge within the lessons of arithmetic, sixth grade students were asked to design and print a box with a 3D printer to place over an object (a car, an animal, etc.). The pupils do not find it easy to design constructions in the 'TinkerCad' program and normally ask a lot of help from the teacher. To prevent this, the teacher created a points system. Each group lost 10 points when asking for help. By adding this to the lesson assignment the students were more motivated to get the highest score and to search for information through the internet.
Who?
Primary school students can use a similar way of working, adapted to the level of the learner.
